About Mineglyph

Play minesweeper online free in your browser, no download and no sign-up needed. Mineglyph is PixelDen's sci-fi reactor take on the classic logic game: a grid of covered tech panels, some hiding live reactor mines. Reveal a tile and it shows how many of its neighbours are mines — a zero blows its whole empty region open. Use the numbers to deduce where the mines sit, flag them, and clear every safe tile to win.

Your first click is always safe: the mine layout is generated after you tap, with a guaranteed open region around your starting tile, so no run ever ends on move one. From there it's pure deduction — and pure nerve, because one wrong tap ends the run.

Speed players get the classic tools: tap a satisfied number (its flags match its value) to chord, revealing all its remaining neighbours at once. On touch, a long-press plants a flag, or flip the FLAG-MODE toggle to make every tap flag instead — fully one-thumb friendly.

Three portrait-friendly difficulties scale from a gentle 9×9 up to a dense Expert grid, and every day there's a shared Daily Challenge: one Intermediate board, identical for every player worldwide. The leaderboard ranks the fastest valid solves — harder boards carry a bigger time bonus.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you play minesweeper?

Reveal tiles on a grid where some hide mines. Each revealed number tells you how many of its 8 neighbours are mines; a blank tile opens its whole region. Use the numbers to deduce safe tiles, flag the dangerous ones, and reveal every safe tile to win — revealing a mine ends the run.

Is this minesweeper game free?

Yes, completely free. Mineglyph runs in your browser with no download, no install and no sign-up. A free account is only needed if you want your best times on the leaderboard.

Can I lose on the first click?

No. The mine layout is generated after your first tap, and your starting tile plus its whole surrounding ring are guaranteed mine-free — the opening always blows a region open, never a lone number and never a mine.

What is chording?

Chording is the classic speed move: when a revealed number already has exactly the right amount of flags next to it, tapping that number reveals all its remaining neighbours at once. If one of your flags was wrong, the chord detonates the real mine — that's part of the classic risk.

How do I place flags on a phone?

Two ways: long-press any covered tile to plant or remove a flag, or switch on the FLAG-MODE toggle in the top bar so every normal tap flags instead of revealing — ideal for one-thumb play.

What is the Daily Challenge?

Every day there is one shared Intermediate board with an identical mine layout for every player worldwide, derived from the UTC date. Solve it to extend your daily streak and race the same board as everyone else.

How does the scoring work?

The leaderboard ranks by solve time: your score is a time bonus that starts from a difficulty-based ceiling and shrinks every second. Expert boards have the highest base, so a fast Expert clear is the top play. Losses never submit a score.
